Who can apply?

Individuals, organizations, associations and institutions from Sweden and/or Estonia. Grants are as a rule not given to municipalities, regions or to government agencies.

For what can you apply?

Based on the fund’s statues grants will be mainly given to promoting mutual exchange and knowledge dissemination about culture and societal conditions, exchange and cooperation for network-building between young people to promote social cohesion, creativity, innovations and the formation of new enterprises.

Grants can also be given for promoting Estonian language and culture in Sweden, and promoting Swedish language and culture in Estonia.

Please note that the Sweden-Estonia Cooperation Fund only disburses grants as specified above and no additional grants are distributed beyond those mentioned therein.

What can you not apply for?

The fund does not approve grants for technical equipment, costs for material, repairs, construction, memorials or similar things. The fund does not approve grants for study trips, administrative costs or salaries that should be covered by public means. The fund does not approve grants for exchange between public schools or sports events or projects that does not have a clear mutual exchange.

How much can you apply for?

The fund generally approves Project grants up to 5000 EUR/project and Travel grants or Translation grants up to 500 EUR/person. The board can approve a higher sum.

When can you apply for grants?

In 2024, the regular application period is between February 1 and March 31.

When do you get an answer?

The fund will inform the applicants by e-mail before May 31 if they have been given a grant or not.

When should the grant be used?

The grants should be used within a year from approval.

When should the Grant Report be handed in?

A Grant Report must be handed in at the latest two months after the grant has been used. The report must be done using the form provided by the fund, supplemented with appendices and pictures.

Postponement and other provisions

Applications that do not fill the provisions above will not be processed. The administrator will in general not contact the applicant if necessary information is missing.

The board decides about all grants and their decision can not be appealed.

The name of the fund must appear in connection with the activities that the grant are approved for.

Information about the application, the sum of the grant and the Grant Report are public information and can be presented on the fund’s webpage or elsewhere.

If the grant is not used within the stipulated period, it is automatically taken back to the fund. Extentions (deferral) must be applied for from the fund and will be granted by the board only in exceptional cases. The grant must be used for the purpose it was given for. If the grant can´t be used as intended, the fund must be contacted.

Handling of personal data

The Sweden-Estonia Cooperation Fund values the secure and legal handling of personal data.

Article 8.1 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union and Article 16.1 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU) provide that everyone has the right to the protection of personal data concerning him or her. The principles and rules governing the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of their personal data should, regardless of their nationality or domicile, respect their fundamental rights and freedoms, in particular their right to the protection of personal data.

The Sweden-Estonia Cooperation Fund processes personal data regarding registered beneficiaries in accounting systems and archives for the purpose of paying compensation and saving in the fund's archives. The personal information may also be disclosed to others for processing on behalf of The Sweden-Estonia Cooperation Fund. In addition to this, the foundation may by law be forced to disclose personal data to another. Beneficiaries have the right, upon written request, once per calendar year to receive free written information about the personal data concerning them. The foundation will, on its own or on the beneficiary's initiative, correct any incorrect personal data.
