In 2022, twenty young Swedish and Estonian leaders came together to learn from each other and develop their leadership skills. The purpose of the Young Leaders Program is to develop the skills of young leaders, as well as establishing new relationships on both sides of the Baltic Sea.
Participants are selected from a range of different sectors such as business, politics, culture and academia. The program was divided into two sessions - Spring conference in Tallinn in May and the Autumn conference in Stockholm in October.
Conference in Tallinn in May 2022
The main focus on the two-day Tallinn conference was on cultural boundaries, Nordic-Baltic identity from the Estonian as well as Swedish perspective, combined with leadership challenges in a digitized world, followed by active group workshops and discussions on these topics.
During the program in Tallinn, participants from Sweden and Estonia met prominent speakers such as former Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid, highly ranked business and opinion leaders Rain Laane, Katre Kõvask, Kait Liinev, Gustaf Antell as well as other leadership experts, researchers, politicians and diplomats from both countries.
Conference in Stockholm in October 2022
The first day of the programme took place at World Trade Centre in central Stockholm. The group were introduced to many interesting speakers from different parts of Swedish society - from Swedish Music Industry to adult education. From former high-ranking politicians such as Maria Wetterstrand and Pär Nuder, to the current director of the Swedish Institute for European Policy Studies, Göran von Sydow.
The group had many interesting questions and discussions on the different topics provided. Discussions that continued over both lunch and dinner.
The second day was spent at Norrsken House with focus on the road to a sustainable society. The three speakers gave insights on how to set targets and evaluate your own journey towards sustainability. Whether it is businesses you have invested in, or your own company’s transition from one business model to another, or how to evaluate your own leadership the road to a sustainable society needs ambitious targets in combination with leadership.
