Young Leaders Program 2023 completed

Young Leaders from Estonia and Sweden Deliberated on Cooperation Opportunities in a Three-Day Conference in Tallinn

The jointly supported "Young Leaders" development program, launched last year for young leaders from Estonia and Sweden, is backed by both SEB and Swedbank. The program aims to promote regional integration and facilitate the exchange of ideas among young leaders from the two countries. Eighteen promising leaders from both nations are meeting this week in Tallinn to learn from each other and enhance their leadership skills.

Throughout the program in Estonia, participants will engaged with highly esteemed business executives, leadership experts, researchers, politicians, and diplomats from both Sweden and Estonia. Among them are prominent leaders such as Piret Mürk-Dubout, a board member of Tallink Grupp, Sirli Männiksaar, the CEO of Ericsson Estonia, Gustaf Antell, a foreign news correspondent for YLE, and many others. In addition to addressing sustainability and leadership challenges, the Estonian program was focusing on cultural ties, and young leaders will discuss new future collaboration opportunities between the two countries.

The "Young Leaders" program is organized by the Sweden-Estonia Cooperation Fund. Yoko Alender, Chairperson of the Cooperation Fund, stated, "The participants in this year's program have deeply impressed me. The selection criteria included leadership experience, innovative thinking, remarkable achievements, and a passion for leading positive changes in society. As a result, the program includes a diverse group of talented individuals who contribute valuable knowledge and perspectives to Estonia-Sweden cooperation."

Recently, much has been discussed about how the economies of Sweden and Estonia are closely linked, primarily through exports. Sweden is Estonia's second-largest trading partner, and a decrease in demand there has broader implications for the Estonian economy. Therefore, it is crucial to establish new and strong contacts and find various points of cooperation between the two countries, opening up new and promising opportunities for both economies.

The goal of the Young Leaders program is to develop the capabilities of young leaders while fostering new connections in the Baltic Sea region. Participants are carefully selected from various sectors, including business, politics, culture, and academia. The program consists of two sessions: a spring conference held in Stockholm and the autumn conference taking place in Tallinn and Viinistu from October 4th to 6th.
