Swedish-Estonian Cooperation Fund announces first call for grant applications

The Swedish-Estonian Cooperation Fund opens from April 1 until April 30 fund’s first application call for project, travel and translation grants to foster cooperation development in the youth segment of both countries. The emphasis of the grant application shall be on encouraging contacts between young people to support creativity, innovation and new initiatives. The fund was formed in 2019 by the Swedish government, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Estonia declaring its independence. Due to the corona pandemic, the fund has chosen not to award any scholarships until this year.

- The grants can be used until the summer of 2022 and we hope that we can start traveling again sometime this Autumn, says the fund's Vice Chairman Pär Nuder.  According to Nuder, it is more important than ever to find collaborations between different countries and create networks around the Baltic Sea, both for the environmental, cultural and economic development. Sweden and Estonia have strong ties, which can and should become even stronger. Nuder added, that due to the covid-19 pandemic, the fund has not been able to award any grants until this year.

The fund focuses on promoting knowledge exchange between younger, committed citizens in both countries. The grants will promote collaborations on innovations, new business opportunities and deepen cultural understanding.

- I hope that people with strong entrepreneurial mindset and drive will apply for the grants. I want them to see possibilities and help them to find ways of relating to each other, says Kristi Liiva, Chairman of the Fund’s Board.

More information about application criteria can be found on the fund’s website.
