Sweden-Estonia Cooperation Fund Welcomes Maris Lauri as New Board Member

Tallinn, January 23, 2025 – The Sweden-Estonia Cooperation Fund is pleased to announce the appointment of Maris Lauri to its Board elected by the Estonian Government. Lauri succeeds Yoko Alender, Estonia's Minister of Climate, who has served on the Board with dedication and impact since 2021.

Maris Lauri brings extensive experience in governance, economics, and public service. Currently a member of the Estonian Parliament representing the Reform Party, she has held key ministerial positions, including Minister of Finance (2014–2015), Minister of Education and Research (2016), and Minister of Justice (2021–2022). Before entering politics in 2014, Lauri was an economic adviser to the Prime Minister and served as Chief Economist at Swedbank Estonia (1998–2011). Her earlier career includes roles at Tallinna Pank, the Bank of Estonia, and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications.

The Board of the Sweden-Estonia Cooperation Fund is comprised of eight members, equally appointed by the Governments of Sweden and Estonia. The Board members represent a diverse mix of expertise across cultural, societal, and business sectors, ensuring alignment with the Fund's mission to strengthen collaboration between the two countries.
